We’re in LA now, but have had a fine week, with Mon & Tue in Joshua Tree, Wed at an amazing birding canyon, and on Thu, hiking a desert canyon with a waterfall and visiting the Living Desert, part zoo, part botanical garden, part wildlife rehab.
I’ve seen a bunch more life birds: Phainopepla, Lazuli Bunting, Summer Tanager, Nutall’s Woodpecker, Ladderback Woodpecker, Long-eared Owl (fledglings!), Bell’s Vireo, and last, but certainly not least, Vermillion Flycatcher.
We return home in Sunday, and then I’m only home for 4 days before heading to Prague for 5 days of work & 8 days of vacation – wheew!
Here is one last batch of iPhone photos:
Prague, eh? Wow… not much time to prepare for that 🙂
The next to last photo with all the blooming cacti is great! Will you post-process that when you get to your computer?
Nope, not much time at all! I’ll be lucky if I can learn my hellos and goodbyes in Czech by then.
I don’t plan on doing any PP with the iPhone pics, but I took a great many with my 30d & g10 that will get some TLC 🙂
Sounds like we are going to have to wait a while before you edit and post your photos from this trip. That’s exciting, too, that you get to travel to Prague. I hope Sarah will be going, too. Glad you had a great SoCal vacation.
Yes, I am definitely going to be VERY behind on posts shortly!
I’m psyched to go to Prague, and Sarah is flying out to join me a week after I arrive, so we will get to spend ~8 days vacationing there together, which should be awesome! I expect it to be a fairly urban vacation, however, without too much nature stuff. It’s likely, however, that the local common city birds are rather different than what I’m used to, and so I’m busily going back & forth in my mind on whether I should bring only my G10 (which won’t allow for much/any bird photos, should the opporunity arise), or the G10 + my SLR, WA zoom & tele zoom. Should probably do the latter, just in case, but it’s a lot of extra weight & bulk!
Right now I’m listening to my 9-month-old niece Caleigh :gurgle and grin, which is the best thing of all 🙂
JT! I always wanted to get out there and do some climbing. Not in the near future though. Great shots of a scenic area.
I’m not a climber, but it’s clearly a popular place to climb – it looked like most of the folks camping there were climbing, and it was easy to see why – many of the campgrounds are right among the famous rock formations.
It is a bit of a drive from nearly anywhere, to be sure!
You are definitely a world traveler Adam, enjoy it for me as well would you, the pics are great the waterfall in the dry environment is really neat !!
Well, I get around when I can. It always seems to come in fits and bursts. Not that I mind too much! Stay tuned for LOTS more photos – I took nearly 2000 on that trip, but processing & trip reporting will have to wait until we’re back from Prague on the 23rd.
How exciting! I cannot wait to see your shots! These are a neat lil tidbit of what is to come. I’m thrilled your seeing so much of the world, and my really selfish side, is more thrilled your going to share it with us!
Thanks, Lori! It’ll be a labor of love to write up trip reports & edit photos, but I’m looking forward to it! I’m hugely grateful that I’ve had the opportunity to travel a good deal in the past year.
