Wow that is one amazing structure! Great capture. Both those photos have their own pizazz and give a different personality to the building.
Two beautiful perspectives! Very well done!
Hi Adam- These are great pictures. Have you ever submitted them to any of the stock photography websites like Istockphoto or Shutterstock? I’ve been messing around with selling some of my shots there- I think many of your images would sell, especially travel shots, etc.
Tom
Wow–those are fantastic!
I heard that this structure was built to resist earthquakes. Even at that time, such amazing engineering.
Evita: Welcome, and thanks for commenting!
Montucky: Thank you!
Tom: Thx. I have not explored the microstock sites. Perhaps one of these days, although I’d think that to be successful on them, you would have to take shots with an eye towards selling them as stock, which would be a shift for me.
Nina: Thanks!
Scienceguy: Wikipedia has a great article on Ayasofya: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haghia_Sofia – in short I don’t think it was built w/earthquakes in mind so much, but was damaged during several, and the repairs certainly kept them in mind. Interestingly, the addition of the 4 minarets by the famous Islamic architect Sinan has helped to stabilize the structure by weighting its corners. According to the wiki article, Sinan was one of the first earthquake engineers.
Both the images are amazing, however the night shot scores over the day shot by a huge margin. Very well done
Wow. That’s beautiful! I love both the day and night images.
Thomas: Thank you
