ScienceGuy: Thanks - they were one of my favorite birds of the trip, and very common (and very regal)

Montucky: Thank you kindly!

Bernie: Yes, well we DID have a couple of drinks at the bar before dinner, an aperitif, and a bottle of wine between us ;-)

The images are wonderful Adam, especially the food, but one that is unnerving me is the dude at the bottom. It would probably take a bottle of wild turkey for me to be able to sit thru that bit of entertainment !! ;)

It would be awesome to take a trip like this someday, your are so fortunate !!

Another great post. I love the shot of the Carancho. The ruggedness of the hawk truly symbolizes the ruggedness of the land it resides in. I cannot wait for the next installment of your story.

Lori: Thanks again for the thoughtful and detailed comment! I enjoy reading them very much. We saw a huge number of Upland Geese (they're basically the Canada Geese of the region), and mixed in with them were usually a smaller number of the Ashy-headed Geese. Buzzard-Eagle is a funny name, eh? Neither buzzard nor eagle. What the photos don't show is how large the BCBE is - they're about Bald Eagle sized, and strikingly big-seeming when you see them perched on roadside posts!

Klaus: Thank you for coming along on the "ride" :)

Sandpiper: Nice of you to say that - it's a wonderful place to be sure, although I'm not sure there's enough to justify another day or two beyond the 3 we had, especially with so much other interesting stuff in the greater vicinity!

Every post gets more and more interesting! This looks like a fantastic place to visit. Sad that it was your last day there, but it certainly looked like a good one.

Amazing! .. where to start? First, of course, I loved all of your shots! And it's difficult to make appropriate exclamations about all (which by the way they so much deserve!) Meanwhile, I loved the look of the Ashy-headed Geese - how brilliantly colored that fellow is! And in perfect more subdued contrast of the Rhea; what a gorgeous shot! What really bent my mind however was your two predator birds, as of late it seems the primary birds I've been seeing, and the shots of the Caracara & the Black-chested Buzzard-Eagle. It's amazing how the regal attitude is there however they look so different. It's great that you caught that attitude so easily! As you mentioned the broad wings and wedged tail I would never associate with either an eagle or a buzzard - at least not the ones I see. Amazing... My very favorite shot (and it was a tough decision) was that tush of the hare. Wow... what a great action shot - that just screams movement. (In a medium where showing movement is quite a task!) Amazing post! Sincerely. (The maté tradition I'd never heard of thank you especially for sharing that!)

p.s. I have to add I think Sarah is just adorable! :)
